Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf
22,000 sf activity center

This new Activity Center serves as a central focus for students on the campus of the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf. The two-story entrance leads to a 350-seat auditorium on the first floor, a kitchen and dining room with outdoor seating, a gathering space, and a dance room. A library and offices occupy the second floor. The auditorium has a sound booth, full proscenium stage, scene shop, dressing rooms, and a catwalk for accessing lighting locations. This is the first new building added to the campus in a number of years and provides a new architectural image for the School. [This project was designed by Dee Blackburn, AIA while working for Cherry Huffman Architects, P.A.]
